Children in Year 4 and 5 are invited to apply to be a Playtime Activity Leader (PAL). They are then selected to be trained by the Chorley School Sport Partnership to be a PAL. They are PALS for the rest of the year and beyond. They are responsible for organising, resourcing and leading sporting activities. PALS encourage Year 1 and 2 children each lunchtime to be physically active and to develop communication skills through a range of team games and skills-based activities.
We have an amazing group of Playground PALS at Eccleston Primary School. Playground PALS are an important part of our school life as they foster a positive and inclusive playtime environment, encouraging friendship, collaboration, and social skills, while also supporting staff and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all children.
The main aim of our Playground PALS is to encourage a healthier and more active playtime; one that is harmonious and encourages positive play for all.
Our children volunteer to be a Playground PAL and make the commitment to help encourage happy and sociable play-times. They will be a point of contact for children during breaks and can help encourage friendship and games, make sure no-one feels alone and are able to sort out any minor concerns.
Our Playground PALS are friendly and approachable, and they are a huge support to the children and staff on duty.
