At Eccleston Primary School, we take the management of allergies seriously and implement strategic approaches to support the wide range of allergies that some of our children need to manage.
Our kitchen and staff room have updated lists of children, alongside photographs, to alert the staff team of allergies that need to be considered. Children who require support managing their allergies are given a yellow tray at lunchtime, this is a second layer of support to highlight to staff that these children need extra consideration.
We have shared a letter with families to specifically outline the snacks that are allowed to be brought into school and signposted some tips from Allergy UK below:
Additionally, we have invested in a Kitt Medical Anaphylaxis kit, located in our hall. We have chosen Kitt Medical, because it provides a comprehensive solution for managing severe allergic reactions. The service includes the delivery of emergency adrenaline pens that are automatically replaced before expiry, access to wall-mounted, secure storage Kitts for immediate deployment, and unlimited online CPD-accredited training for staff. This innovative approach addresses challenges in sourcing and managing adrenaline pens, ensuring we are prepared to provide life-saving treatment for anaphylaxis emergencies.
